Ben's Story

Formerly the CEO of a boutique consulting company, I've developed a collection of unique skills throughout my career in commercial real estate, engineering, and renewable energy.  I put myself through college on a basketball scholarship, earning an engineering degree along the way.  Eight years later, I earned my MBA while attending night classes and working a full-time job in business development.

I grew up in "small town" Iowa, the son of 2 teachers and oldest of 3 siblings. In a nutshell - After college, I lived in Germany; moved to Chicago for a girl (lasted a week); made some life-long friends over many questionable decisions; got married; had two amazing kids; went through a painful divorce; met the woman of my dreams; maintained a long distance relationship for 3 years; then married her and started a life coaching business!

When I met Aimee, I really thought that I had my shit together.  Little did I know, I’d only scratched the surface in uncovering my subconscious drivers, limiting beliefs, and opportunities for growth.  Throughout my process of self-discovery, there seems to be only one certainty I’ve come to realize.  The work is never over.  Luckily, I love the journey.  Every new insight and realization is just one more piece of a puzzle that’ll never be finished.  Finding self-worth from within and not validation from other people is currently my biggest challenge.  It takes daily recognition and practice.

Over the years, I've become more interested and focused on my ability to help people see blind spots and get of their own way. I believe that the closer we are to a situation emotionally, the worse our rational judgement becomes. This applies most evidently to ourselves.

I've always had an engineering mind, which basically means I like to figure out how things work and solve problems. Luckily, I'm also a people-person, who's fascinated with learning what makes each person tick. Getting certified as a life coach was a natural step. I love to read and am constantly learning new ideas that help me better serve my clients. I'm ridiculously lucky to share this passion with my wife, Aimee. We support each other and discuss our approaches, strategies, new ideas, books and podcasts every day.
